Local alpha and beta cell communication affects functional and immune-endocrine networks in pancreatic islets

Vira Kravets, PhD

Assistant Professor

University of California San Diego

Department of Bioengineering,

School of Engineering & Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine

West Lecture Hall, 3697 Med Sci II

Vira completed her postdoctoral fellowship with Richard Benninger where she did some amazing work on intra-islet communication, endocrine function, and beta cell heterogeneity before starting her own research program in late 2022. She leans on her engineering background and integrates it seamlessly with islet biology to always tell a fantastic (and beautiful) story.  - David Lorberbaum, PhD
