CDI Seeks Applicants for Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

Friday, September 23, 2022

Faculty Positions in Research Broadly Related to Diabetes and Metabolism

The Caswell Diabetes Institute, in collaboration with several departments at U-M, seeks tenure-track faculty applicants with research interests related to diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), obesity, metabolism, and/or the complications of these diseases.

Areas of specific research interest are broadly in the sphere of basic metabolism research and therapeutics, including (but not limited to): islet biology, adipocyte biology, the CNS control of food intake and metabolism, exercise physiology, immunology/autoimmunity, stem cell biology, genetics/genomics, and the many organ systems affected by diabetes.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with review of applications to begin immediately.  Outstanding investigators at any rank will be considered. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Candidates must have a PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent degree(s) and the ability to direct independently-funded research programs.

Faculty recruited through these mechanisms will be members of the Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI) and the co-recruiting department or unit at U-M. CDI serves as the central hub to coordinate research programs across U-M, including several NIH and JDRF funded research centers. We have outstanding and highly collaborative researchers focused on diabetes, metabolic disorders, and their complications. We work across disciplines and serve to integrate rigorous science with patient-centered clinical care to prevent, treat, and ultimately cure diabetes and related disorders.

Interested candidates should submit their CV and cover letter to Scott Soleimanpour, MD, Chair of the CDI Faculty Search Committee, at CDI-Recruit@umich.edu.
