In partnership with the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative, the Caswell Diabetes Institute sponsored a special screening of Being Mary Tyler Moore at the historic Michigan Theatre. A tireless advocate for diabetes research, the documentary offers unprecedented access into Ms. Moore's life via her estate, friends, family and colleagues; spanning her 60-year career in show business.
The Michigan Theater provided the perfect backdrop for the more than 500 attendees including diabetes and ophthalmology experts from Michigan Medicine, S. Robert Levine (Moore’s husband and founder of the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative), director James Adolphus, producer Debra Martin Chase and a host of many notable, local supporters. Immediately following the film, organizers held an engaging panel discussion focused on diabetic retinal disease and the efforts of the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative with representatives from the documentary and Michigan Medicine.
