PHARMACY Clinical Pharmacy

Biography

Dr. Beatriz Manzor is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She strongly advocates for access to easy to understand medication information across the continuum of care from primary care clinics to community pharmacies to patient homes. Her research work includes 1. assessing the effects of artificial intelligence (AI), evidence based guidelines, and patient specific information, attitudes, and knowledge on ehealth literacy and the delivery of health care services; and 2. the impact of structural determinants and pharmacist care services on clinical outcomes of depression and diabetes. Dr. Manzor conducts quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, following a community engaged research (CER) approach, to study medication use and health outcomes in vulnerable populations. Using CER, a steering committee develops and evaluates interventions that leverage informatics, AI, telehealth, and pharmacist care services to significantly improve clinical outcomes, health literacy, and ehealth literacy.

Dr. Manzor has been the recipient of several grants to support valuable research and foster future innovative research efforts. These include the Eisenberg Family Depression Center Collaborative Innovations Award (2018), MICHR J (pre-K) Award (2018), MICHR KL2 Award (2019), and AACP New Investigator Award (2022), and the MICHR Promoting Academics and Community Engagement (PACE) Dissemination Grant (2025). Dr. Manzor is an active committee member for several national associations. These include the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the National Hispanic Pharmacists Association (NHPA), the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). She is also an active member of several university organizations including the Eisenberg Family Depression Center, the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR), the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI), and the Caswell Diabetes Institute. In addition to supporting the respective association and organization committees' charges, Dr. Manzor has served as an abstract and grant reviewer, mentor, and invited expert presenter.
