Biography
Bethany Beilue Moore earned her BA degree in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. She earned her PhD in Immunology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1992. She performed post-doctoral fellowships at U.T. Southwestern until 1994 and at Stanford University from 1994-1997. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1997 in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In 2011, she became joint-appointed to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She served as the Director of the Graduate Program in Immunology from 2012-2019. In 2019, she became interim chair of Microbiology and Immunology and was named permanent chair in April, 2021.

Research
Dr. Moore is broadly interested in the pathogenesis of respiratory infections, especially in compromised hosts. Her laboratory studies viral and bacterial pathogens in the setting of lung fibrosis, bone marrow transplantation and diabetes. She is also interested in innate immune cell function and contributions to homeostasis and disease.
