Biography
I am the Division Director for Pediatric Endocrinology. I am also the Medical Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Program.
I oversee both the inpatient and outpatient endocrinology program. I see a wide variety of patients with pediatric endocrine issues, providing comprehensive care to patients with diabetes mellitus, including type 1, type 2, neonatal diabetes and MODY. As the Medical Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Program, I manage the education and clinical program, which is certified by the State of Michigan and recognized by the American Diabetes Association. I co-founded the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Endocrine Surgery and the Multidisciplinary Osteogenesis Imperfecta Clinics, which are unique programs in the State of Michigan, which offers expert care for children with rare endocrine disorders.
Research
I serve as the Associate Director for Pediatric Clinical Research and Diabetes Program with the Caswell Diabetes Institute, supporting the overarching mission to support rigorous science and its integration with patient-centered clinical care. I am the principal investigator for the University of Michigan Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet site (www.diabetestrialnet.org), which is a National Institutes of Health-funded international collaboration that is dedicated to the study, prevention, and early treatment of type 1 diabetes. I am also the site principal investigator for the TADPOL (diabetes, funded by JDRF/Indiana) and Libelula Precocious Puberty (Debiopharm) study.
