Biography
Paul Fleming is an Assistant Professor in Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He received his PhD in Health Behavior with a graduate minor in Sociology from the University of North Carolina and his MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University. His work focused on identifying and addressing the root causes of health inequities. Specifically, he partners with several community-based organizations in Southeast Michigan to examine how the socio-political environment impacts the health of Latinx immigrants. He also collaborates on several projects to integrate anti-racism principles into public health teaching and practice. In addition to his scholarship, he is active in several local groups, such as the Michigan Chapter of Public Health Awakened, that are organizing for health equity and social justice.
