Research

Pancreatic islet cells are responsible for synthesizing, packaging, and secreting glucose-regulating hormones, including insulin and glucagon. Disruption of these processes contributes to hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus. My laboratory group studies how cellular protein quality control mechanisms regulate hormone processing and define islet cell function.
